I don't know about you, but that title INSTANTLY brings this song to mind....
But that's what we're in...our final countdown to our girls!!! Woo hoo!!! We leave in 2 weeks!
We've been busy around here, buying plane tickets, ordering visas, unpacking and repacking, toddler proofing the house, buying Gotcha Day outfits, International Missions Offering at church, my friends threw me a shower....it's been pretty busy!!!
As we got the details for our final trip, we started adding things up, and realized we were coming in a little short on our funding. Nothing drastic - but enough that we were a little bummed. After a year of scrimping and saving, selling anything we could, Brandon doing extra computer jobs, me teaching piano lessons and fundraisers - we're finally at the end - and we didn't quite make it. Now, we would have been coming in right with what we needed, had we not needed to do the additional training. The training was DEFINITELY worth it, but we had NOT budgeted for that $3000 weekend! We hadn't budgeted for that, because when we started the process - and even when we were halfway through the process - that was not a requirement. Anyway, of course this was a bit of a bummer, but it's not like it's going to change anything - we'll carry a balance on our credit card for a couple of months and pay it off as quickly as we can. Not really a huge deal.
Well, of course we took some time to pray about it - because we worship and serve a God who can and will do miracles - and we know that we haven't gotten this far for Him to abandon us. He wants these girls home as much as we do. :)
Fast forward to yesterday....when I receive a message that an anonymous donor will be sending in a check for us that will cover those final expenses. HALLELUJAH! Praise God!!! Why do we ever doubt you God? You continue to bless our socks off again and again. We can't wait to be able to be the ones who are able to help out other families in the way we've been helped out!!! We are committed to doing that in whatever way we can!
But for now, we're rejoicing in the fact that we leave in 2 weeks to get our girls forEVER! We never have to have a tearful goodbye with Dasha again - we don't have to miss out on anymore of Emily's (or Dasha's) milestones ever again. I said to Brandon the other night, it still hasn't fully sunk in that this is our final trip to Russia - that the girls will really be HOME with us, we won't have to fly a zillion hours to see them. :) I know once they're here, it will probably feel like they've ALWAYS been here. :) As I look around the house, and recognize things that need to be moved so they're out of Emily's reach - or that I want to add so Dasha can help me do things - I'm humbled and it brings tears to my eyes, when I think of all the people who have helped us get here. It's been a crazy couple of years for us - and what a final result. We get to be parents to these two AMAZING girls. I already can't imagine my life without them.
So here we go, friends!! We're almost there!!! Can you believe it?
Oh and you're welcome....
