In almost exactly 72 hours, we will be on a plane to our girls' country!! We leave Portland at 11 a.m., fly to L.A., from there we fly to our girls' country (12 hours and 15 minutes!!) and have about a 6 hour layover in the capital city, before flying another 4 1/2 hours to the girls' city!! We arrive there Sunday morning, local time. All in all it's about 30 hours of travel!! Yikes!! We will be well acquainted with our airplane seats. :)
We have everything we need for our trip except for 2 gifts and I'm on the lookout for a travel hairdryer. :) If I can't find that it won't be the end of the world, but my hairdryer is kind of bulky, so I'm hoping Target will have one for me. :)
I thought it would be fun to give you all a glimpse of some of what we're taking with us! Well, here's some of it! :)
This is a 25" suitcase - stuffed full. :) It's full of orphanage donations, gifts for our agency staff in country, toys to take to play with the girls, and other random stuff for us. :)
In case you're wondering just WHAT is in that pile or stuffed in that suitcase. I took a few more pictures to share! :)
This is the orphanage donations we're taking. We have 6 boxes of bandaids, 1 box of alcohol swabs, 1 box of procedure masks, 4 tubes of neosporin, 3 boxes of gauze bandages, 1 chewable children's tyelonol and 11 bottles of liquid children's tylenol or advil. I wish we could have taken more - but our plan is to ask the girls' orphanages what they specifically need, and to have a donation drive before our next trip.
Next up is our survival stuff!! Okay, some of that is toiletries - but the rest is so we can survive. Ha ha!! I bought those little peanut butter packs to take for snacks/lunches - and we'll buy some bread or crackers in country. There's 16 mini packs of kleenex, for use either as kleenex or toilet paper, because I've heard that often the orphanages don't have toilet paper available!! There's also flushable wipes for the same reason. :) There is anti-diarrhea pills, and powdered Gatorade, in case we get a tummy bug, pink eye drops (thanks Marj!!) - because my eyes love getting pink eye, dayquil and nyquil - just in case of allergies/stuffy noses/colds, and ground coffee and filters, because well, I don't know how available coffee will be to us, and neither us functions that well without it. :) I need to dig out our one cup brewer (that you put the filter in) that is in our camping gear, and we'll take that too. We are in an apartment on this trip, so boiling water for coffee won't be a problem. :)
This is most of the gifts we're taking for our agency staff in country. Need to pick up a couple more little things and then we'll be good to go! :)
These are the toys we're taking to play with Abigail. We might be going overboard with the toys, but we're first time parents, so we're allowed. :) There's a couple of books, lacing beads, a light up bouncy ball, a baby doll, crayons, paper, a coloring book, a simple puzzle, bubbles, a mini magna-doodle, playdoh, and the red and yellow ball comes apart and is a stacking toy. Oh and you'll notice my "famous" drawstring bags in these pictures....each girl has their own (of course) and we'll use them to keep their toys separated in my bag to take with us each day. :)
Here is Emily's pile - more bubbles, a lot of baby books, O ball, light up balls, soft blocks/sensory toys, a baby doll, stacking rings and a talking/singing/light up dog. :)
Some of these toys we might leave there, at the orphanages - and some we'll bring back with us. We don't know yet the type of room(s) we'll have our visits in, so we wanted to come prepared with plenty of fun stuff, especially to break the ice at those first visits!!

If I remember correctly there is a hair dryer in the hotel room. You can look it up online too.
I know you are crazy excited! Try to get some rest though.
We're actually not in the hotel this trip - we're in an apartment. :) One family said yes there is a hair dryer, and one said there wasn't - I picked one up, just in case! :) 2 more days!!!! :)
